I'm a wheelchair tech recently moved to Brownwood.
I can work on manual or power wheelchairs.
I can travel anywhere within 20 miles of Brownwood free. 75cents/mile after.
I can get original manufacturer parts, or I can assist clients in finding (usually cheaper) parts on Amazon or similar.
Rates vary depending on complexity of work.
- simple adjustments/dialing in, $25/hr (1hr minimum)
- chair reconfiguration $25-50/hr depending on complexity and extent of reconfiguration (1hr minimum)
- for example:
- replace/configure headrest or armrests, $25/hr
- adjust width of manual chair, $50/hr
- parts replacement $25-50/hr depending on complexity of repair (1hr minimum)
- for example:
- battery or caster replacement $25-35/hr
- motors or actuators, $50/hr
- computer/electronics diagnosis and programming, $50/hr (1hr minimum)
Rates may seem high, but the national DME supply and repair companies are charging upwards of $185/hr. Also, I'm SIGNIFICANTLY more responsive than the national repair companies.
Self-pay only as I'm not set-up to work with medicare or private insurance. However, some insurance companies will reimburse repair costs, or apply costs to the yearly deductible. Clients will have to look into that on their own.
Whichever way you go with looking for the repairs and adjustments your wheelchair needs, best of luck. It's not easy.
Thanks for your time,
Mike
