Vintage Solid Brass Candlesticks - 7" Tall, Beaded Square Base, Pair - $35 (sunnyvale)

These are square-based, beaded/gadrooned brass matching pair of candlesticks.
Key features:
* A wide, flat drip pan/bobeche at the top with a reeded (ringed) waisted socket below it (candle sockets not included)
* A beaded (rope-like) decorative band wrapped around both the mid-shaft collar and the base — rows of small raised beads, a very deliberate cast ornamental detail rather than a plain turned profile
* A stepped, concave-sided square base, also trimmed with the same beaded moulding
* The finish has a beautiful appearance from age, which I have left intact rather than remove it with polish
This "beaded and gadrooned, square-footed" style is a well-known pattern — often associated with Georgian/Adam-style revival brass candlesticks, and also very frequently made as Anglo-Indian or Middle Eastern export brassware in the 19th and 20th centuries (a lot of this decorative beaded-trim brass was cast in India for the British/European export market, and later for the general "vintage brass" home-decor market). Without a maker's mark, I genuinely can't tell you whether this is an English Georgian original, a 19th-century Anglo-Indian export piece, or a later 20th-century decorative reproduction — all three used similar beaded-trim square-base designs. I purchased these in an antiques store in England in 1985.
