This box contains 8 MIDI inputs (DIN-5 type, though you can absolutely use it with cables/dongles if your devices use 3.5mm MIDI Type-A/Type-B) - and each of these 8 has a dedicated 'Through' output. In addition to these 16 I/O jacks, there's a DIN-5 'Merged' output that merges all of the MIDI input signals together and outputs them. This is absolutely fantastic if you use multiple MIDI controllers, as you can have each going to a dedicated MIDI device as well as DAW or Sequencer or other instrument.
For example, I liked to use a MIDI keyboard, MIDI expression pedal, AND my Kaoss pad as MIDI sources, which I could all then route into my sequencer and DAW. Another input was wired up to the MIDI out of my keyboardist's Nord Piano, because I'm not the world's best pianist so if I was struggling with a part, I'd just yell over and he'd key it in. I used it extensively with my Elektron Digitakt because I could assign different MIDI channels to the A~H tracks and the Anatek would combine all of the inputs, then the Digitakt would send the signals out to the relevant MIDI instruments - I could essentially record+sequence up to 8 parts at once!
Cosmetically, this unit is in Excellent shape. I have a LOT of rack gear, and this is really in better condition than most (probably because there's no need to fiddle with knobs on the the front). There isn't even the usual "rack rash"! It also works 100% ~ I checked every input and output just before writing up this listing, and you're welcome to check it yourself. I'm including the power supply that I got with it, which is pictured, and I've tried to photograph the unit from every angle possible so you can get an idea of what it looks like.
