Hi, I'm Alex, owner of SAV Water Heaters.
I am a licensed plumbing contractor and licensed electrical contractor with more than 20 years of experience. I specialize in water heaters and personally provide water heater replacement and installation services throughout the South Bay and surrounding areas.
I replace and service more than 300 water heaters per year and work with everything from traditional gas and electric tanks to modern heat pump and tankless systems.
My focus is professional workmanship, proper equipment selection, safe installation, and long-term reliability — not simply offering the lowest installation price.
🔧 WATER HEATER REPLACEMENT & INSTALLATION
I work with virtually all types of residential water heating systems:
• Natural Gas Tank Water Heaters
• Electric Water Heaters
• Heat Pump / Hybrid Water Heaters
• SANCO₂ Heat Pump Water Heaters
• Tankless Water Heaters
• Direct Vent Water Heaters
• Power Vent Water Heaters
• Hydronic Water Heating Systems
Every home and every installation is different. Before replacing a water heater, I evaluate the existing system and make sure the new equipment is appropriate for the location, plumbing, gas supply, venting, electrical system, water pressure, and the needs of the home.
I don't simply remove the old tank and connect a new one.
The complete installation is evaluated to make sure the new water heater operates safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer requirements and applicable codes.
✅ PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION INCLUDES ATTENTION TO:
• Proper water heater sizing and capacity
• Gas line sizing and gas supply
• Gas shutoff valve and sediment trap
• Proper venting and combustion air
• Water pressure and pressure regulator condition
• Expansion tank requirements
• Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve piping
• Drain pan and drain requirements
• Earthquake seismic strapping
• Water and gas connections
• Electrical requirements
• Manufacturer installation specifications
• Applicable plumbing, mechanical, gas, and electrical requirements
If the existing installation has problems, I will explain them before starting the work and discuss the available solutions with you.
⚡ HEAT PUMP & ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS – COMPLETE INSTALLATION
Heat pump water heater installations often involve much more than simply replacing the tank.
Because I hold both plumbing and electrical contractor licenses, I can provide a complete installation without requiring the homeowner to separately coordinate a plumber and an electrician.
Depending on the project, this can include:
• Removal of the existing gas or electric water heater
• Installation of the new heat pump water heater
• Water piping modifications
• Condensate drain installation
• Electrical circuit and wiring as required
• Breaker installation or electrical modifications when required
• Expansion tank and pressure-related upgrades
• Final setup and testing of the system
This allows me to manage the entire water heater installation as one complete project.
📋 PERMITS & INSPECTIONS AVAILABLE
If you would like your water heater replacement completed as a turnkey project with permits and inspection, I can also handle the permit process and coordinate the required inspection.
Permit requirements and fees vary depending on the city and scope of work.
🔥 PROFESSIONAL-GRADE WATER HEATERS
I can supply and install professional-grade equipment from major manufacturers including:
Bradford White Rheem Professional A.O. Smith Rinnai Navien
and other manufacturers depending on the application.
For traditional tank water heaters, Bradford White is one of my preferred brands and is supplied through professional plumbing distributors.
Customer-supplied water heaters can also be installed after confirming that the equipment is appropriate for the application.
🔧 WATER HEATER REPAIR & MAINTENANCE
I also provide service for many traditional gas and electric tank water heaters, including:
• Gas water heater diagnostics
• Electric water heater diagnostics
• Gas control valve replacement
• Thermostat and heating element replacement
• Pilot and ignition problems
• Burner problems
• Expansion tank replacement
• Pressure-related problems
• Water heater flushing and maintenance
• Tankless water heater maintenance / flushing

💰 PROFESSIONAL, TRANSPARENT ESTIMATES
Water heater replacement cost depends on the type and size of the equipment, installation location, accessibility, venting, gas or electrical requirements, existing plumbing conditions, and any necessary upgrades.
For that reason, I don't advertise unrealistic low starting prices.
I prefer to evaluate your actual installation and provide a clear estimate before the work begins.
There are no surprises after the job has started.
📸 HOW TO GET AN ESTIMATE
For a standard gas tank water heater replacement, I can often provide an estimate quickly based on photos.
Please send clear photos showing:
1. The entire water heater and installation area
2. The plumbing, gas connection, and venting
3. The manufacturer's label showing the model and specifications
If the installation can be properly evaluated from the photos, I can usually provide a preliminary estimate by text without requiring an initial site visit.
If the installation is unusual, the photos do not show enough detail, or I need to evaluate existing conditions more closely, an onsite estimate is the better option.
For heat pump, tankless, hydronic, and other more complex water heater installations, an onsite evaluation is required. These projects often involve additional plumbing, electrical, venting, drainage, gas supply, or equipment-location considerations that need to be evaluated in person before an accurate estimate can be provided.
