Hi! I’m Coach Matthew, a PTR-certified tennis coach and active competitive player offering private, semi-private, and group tennis lessons throughout San Jose. I also offer hitting sessions for players looking for consistent match-style practice.
I work primarily with beginner through intermediate players who want to improve their game without being overwhelmed by complicated technical instruction.
ABOUT ME:
🎾 PTR Certified Tennis Coach
🎾 Active UTR tournament competitor
🎾 Former #1 high school singles player & team captain
🎾 Collegiate-level training experience
🎾 SafePlay & background-check certified
🎾 CPR/AED certified
🎾 Creator of Deuces Club — @deucesclubofficial on Instagram
I had never touched a tennis racquet before high school. Within about a month, I became the #5 singles player on my team, and roughly a year later, I was team captain and #1 singles.
That experience heavily influences how I coach today. I know what it’s like to learn the game from scratch and how much simpler tennis becomes when you’re given the right cues.
MY COACHING STYLE:
My goal is to make tennis quicker and simpler to learn.
Instead of overwhelming you with dozens of technical checkpoints, I focus on simple, practical cues that you can understand, feel, and immediately apply on the court.
Lessons can be customized around what YOU want to improve, including:
• Forehands & backhands
• Serves & returns
• Volleys & net play
• Footwork & court positioning
• Singles & doubles strategy
• Rally consistency
• Match play
• Learning tennis from scratch
👥 Semi-Private & Group Lessons Available

LOCATION:
📍 San Jose
I come to you! We can meet at a convenient free public tennis court near you.
I provide tennis balls, and a loaner racquet can be available for beginners who don’t have one yet.
Whether you’ve never picked up a racquet before or already play and feel like you’ve hit a wall, we’ll build the session around your current level, goals, and what you want to improve.
