Here we have a rare 1930's Karlo Industrial Periscoping Satellite Typewriter Table with Cast Iron Base .
This is a wonderful piece of industrial furniture history. This 1930's Karlo Typewriter Table was manufactured in Grand Rapids, Michigan by William E. Karl and John Vanderveen of the Karl Manufacturing Company.
It features a wood top with a sliding shelf extension and a unique three legged cast iron pedestal base with baked enameled finish. A three pronged cast iron handle, located under the table top, smoothly twists to raise or lower the height, and a "faucet" style grip locks it in place when tightened. Swiveling casters and hard black plastic wheels all turn freely to easily transport this piece.
These were used in professions where a small mobile table was needed, and were favorited by typists and optometrists because of the adjustable height. Now re-purposed for your Lap top, I pad, Monitor, TV or what have you.
Measurements of the table top are approximately 16" X 16" Height of table when fully adjusted up is approximately 38" Height of table when fully adjusted down is approximately 25". The Feet stand approximately 19" apart
Overall, this piece is in very good condition. The table tops have seen some wear and tare but are in good useable condition, only slight scratching and blemishing appear on the wood. Top shelf had the veneer taken off and was refinished.
