Assistant Store Manager Trainee – Full Time
San Jose Coin Shop – Willow Glen / San Jose
$23–$30/hour DOE | Full Time
San Jose Coin Shop is a long-established coin, precious-metals and collectibles business serving customers throughout the Bay Area.
We're looking for a dependable, personable and hardworking person who wants to learn the business and grow into an Assistant Store Manager role.
Coin experience is NOT required. We will train the right person.
This isn't a traditional retail job where you stand behind a register all day. We buy and sell gold, silver, coins, currency, jewelry and collectibles. Customers bring us everything from a few old coins to valuable collections.
Because of the nature of our business, trustworthiness, judgment and reliability are extremely important.
You would initially work closely with experienced staff while learning the business.
Responsibilities will include:
Greeting and helping customers
Answering phones and customer questions
Learning our point-of-sale and inventory systems
Assisting with retail sales
Learning how we buy coins, gold, silver and other items from customers
Handling cash and valuable inventory
Opening and closing procedures
Shipping and receiving
Organizing and pricing inventory
Sorting coins and collections
Maintaining displays and keeping the store organized
Helping with online sales and other store projects
Eventually performing keyholder and Assistant Manager duties
The person we're looking for:
Is exceptionally reliable and punctual
Is honest and trustworthy
Enjoys dealing with people
Communicates well
Is comfortable with basic math and computers
Learns quickly and asks good questions
Can stay organized when several things are happening at once
Doesn't mind cleaning, organizing, carrying boxes or doing whatever needs to get done
Wants responsibility rather than avoiding it
Is interested in building a career rather than simply finding a temporary job
Retail, sales, banking, jewelry, pawn, collectibles, automotive, hospitality or customer-service experience can be helpful, but none is required.
Knowledge of coins is a plus, but we would rather hire a great person and teach them coins than hire a coin expert who isn't dependable or good with customers.
This is intended to be a growth position. Someone who demonstrates good judgment, reliability, customer skills and the ability to learn the business can take on considerably more responsibility and compensation.
