Part-Time Field Technician
GGE Consulting Engineers, Inc s seeking a responsible and dependable Part-Time Field Technician to support our Structural Engineering Department with soil sampling for commercial and residential foundation design projects.
Position Summary
The Field Technician will travel to residential and commercial project sites to collect soil samples for laboratory testing. Soil samples will be collected using hand tools and/or a power drill auger, generally to a depth of approximately 4 feet or until refusal/resistance is encountered.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working outdoors and at various job sites, and able to work independently while following established procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Travel to commercial and residential project sites to collect soil samples.
• Operate a hand auger and/or power drill auger to obtain soil samples.
• Collect samples to approximately 4 feet in depth or until significant resistance is encountered.
• Properly bag, label, and secure soil samples.
• Transport collected samples to the designated laboratory for testing.
• Maintain accurate records of sample locations and collection information.
• Follow company safety procedures and job-site requirements.
• Represent GGE professionally when interacting with clients, contractors, property owners, and other personnel.
• Perform other field-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physical field work.
• Ability and willingness to use hand tools and/or power equipment.
• Reliable transportation and a good driving record.
• Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Attention to detail when collecting, labeling, and transporting samples.
• Previous construction, geotechnical, engineering, environmental, or field experience is helpful but not required.

Schedule
Part-Time — Up to 24 hours per week
Hours may vary based on project schedules and field assignments. Some flexibility in scheduling is preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position involves outdoor field work, walking over uneven terrain, bending, lifting, carrying equipment and soil samples, and operating hand and/or power augering equipment. Candidates must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
