We are a husband and wife living on a beautiful, large private property in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Los Gatos. We are offering a small private furnished studio for one person in exchange for dependable household assistance and light help around the garden and property.
Most of the assistance will be inside our home, helping my wife with cleaning, kitchen organization, laundry, folding, closets, and other everyday household responsibilities. Some light outdoor help may include gardening, caring for chickens, assisting with the vegetable garden and orchard, and occasional dog care.
This is not a full-time employment opportunity. It is a long-term work-and-housing arrangement best suited to someone with an established source of income who wants a peaceful country home, has a flexible schedule, and would enjoy becoming a trusted and dependable presence on our property.
IMPORTANT: This is strictly a single-occupancy studio for one person only. It is not suitable for a couple, family, children, additional occupants, or pets. No dogs or other pets may be brought onto the property.
COMPENSATION AND HOUSING
The monthly rent for the furnished studio is $1,900 and includes:
• Electricity
• Water
• High-speed internet
• Garbage service
• Laundry access
• Parking
• Other basic utilities
Work is credited at $30 per hour toward the monthly rent. Approximately 63 hours per month would completely offset the $1,900 rent.
The available work is primarily intended to cover the rent. We cannot guarantee additional work or cash earnings beyond the amount needed to offset the monthly rent. The resident may maintain outside employment, personal activities, and an independent life.
This arrangement may be especially suitable for someone who already has an established source of income, wants a stable and peaceful home, and does not need full-time employment from us.
HOUSEHOLD ASSISTANCE
Most of the help will be inside our home, assisting my wife with ordinary household responsibilities, including:
• General household cleaning
• Keeping the kitchen clean and organized
• Laundry and folding
• Organizing closets and household items
• Helping maintain a clean, comfortable, and orderly home
• Other light household assistance as needed
This is household assistance only. It does not involve medical or personal-care services.
GARDEN, ANIMALS, AND PROPERTY
Some assistance may also include:
• Light gardening and basic plant care
• Helping with the vegetable garden and orchard
• Feeding chickens and keeping their area clean
• Occasional dog care when we are away
• Other light outdoor or property-related assistance
We would especially appreciate someone familiar with agricultural, farm, ranch, homestead, or country living. Professional farming experience is not required, but the person should genuinely enjoy plants, animals, outdoor living, and caring for a rural property.
WHO WOULD BE A GOOD FIT
We are looking for one responsible person who:
• Wants a peaceful, stable, long-term home
• Has a flexible schedule and time to help regularly
• Has an established income or other financial support
• Does not depend on this arrangement as their only source of income
• Is dependable, honest, clean, organized, and respectful
• Has practical household cleaning and organizational experience
• Is comfortable helping in the kitchen and with laundry
• Has some gardening, farming, orchard, or animal-care experience
• Enjoys rural living, nature, gardening, and animals
• Is comfortable around chickens and dogs and has no dog allergies
• Can work independently and communicate clearly
• Would appreciate a warm, family-like relationship while maintaining personal independence
• Can provide strong personal and work references
• Understands that the studio is strictly for one resident only
• Understands that no pets, including dogs, may be brought onto the property
