Reasonable rental

With a private bath in a two bedroom, two bath house in San Luis Obispo county. The male landlord lives in the house, as well. Upon meeting and agreeing to rental expectations, which were more than reasonable, at that time, a short time after moving in, his rules of occupancy drastically and interestingly changed. I was NOT to have access to basic amenities such as kitchen, microwave, stove, refrigerator, etc. The room I have is set up in much the same as a hotel. Small fridge with even smaller freezer and a small, none heating microwave, requiring any and all food to be heated a minimum 3 times to reach healthy eating temps. The house is completely void of any and all furnishings except for those in the room. Offering to provide pieces of personal furnishings of mine were immediately rejected. The dog is NOT allowed in the back yard, at any time, without my presence. During the day, while at work, she and the cat, stay in the bedroom.
At one point, there was even tight restrictions on laundry usage as he didn't approve of my laundry soap or softener. That has since been rectified. He's never been inappropriate towards me, in any way, nor does he even acknowledge my presence, except on rent day. When in our respective rooms, doors are closed and firmly locked.
I'm a month to month basis here and currently looking for other, less restrictive environments. I'm gainfully employed in the Health Care industry and can afford rent of $1,200-$1,600 per month and I have two terrific furr babies, 1 eleven year old cat and a 40lb 5 year old dog, who are both ESA authorized and documented.
I am hoping to find a 1 bedroom, 1 bath apt., trailer, granny house, etc., in Paso, Atascadero or Templeton, making the drive to work doable in a matter of a fewer minutes. I have nothing to hide and my last background check was done in February 2026 for my work. I'm a quiet, non smoker, non drinker. Local to the area since birth.
