We’re looking for a dependable and experienced person to help care for the animals at Pumpkin Jack’s Ranch in Paso Robles.
Our animals include miniature horses, miniature donkeys, goats, sheep, alpacas, miniature pigs, and a miniature cow. One of our miniature donkeys is currently pregnant, so careful observation and livestock experience are especially important.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Morning and/or evening feeding
• Filling and cleaning water containers
• Cleaning manure and maintaining pens
• Monitoring animals for injuries, illness, behavioral changes, and signs of distress
• Checking the pregnant donkey and promptly reporting concerns
• Moving hay, feed, bedding, and livestock supplies
• Safely separating or moving animals when needed
• Maintaining clean, secure, guest-ready animal areas
• Assisting with feeders, fencing, shelters, and other basic ranch tasks
• Following written feeding and animal-care instructions exactly
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Previous hands-on livestock, horse, farm, or ranch experience required
• Calm and confident around large or pushy animals
• Able to lift approximately 50 pounds and perform physical outdoor work
• Dependable transportation and consistent attendance
• Comfortable working in heat, cold, dust, mud, and changing weather
• Able to notice small changes in an animal’s health or behavior
• Weekend and holiday availability is strongly preferred
This is a hands-on animal-care position—not simply an opportunity to pet or spend time with animals. We need someone responsible who understands that livestock depend on consistent, attentive care every day.
Schedule: Part-time; approximately [DAYS/HOURS]
