I am a recently semi-retired Newton Public Schools math teacher with 40 years of experience, both in the classroom and as a private tutor for students in Grades 2-8 in Newton and Brookline. I am familiar with a wide range of math curriculums and have extensive experience supporting students using Amplify/Desmos/Illustrative Math.
I offer remote tutoring via Zoom. A second camera serves as a whiteboard, allowing students to follow each step up close as I work through concepts with them. My services include:
Homework help
Preview of upcoming grade-level curriculum, so students feel confident going into new units
Review and reinforcement of previously taught material
Filling gaps in foundational skills, such as number sense, fractions, and multiplication facts, and algorithms
Test and quiz preparation
Support for students who are struggling, as well as enrichment for students ready for a challenge
Building problem-solving strategies, study habits, and math confidence
Preparation for the transition to middle school math
