Maybe you replaced an old computer years ago, but it's still sitting in the office or garage because there are files on it that you haven't gotten around to moving.
I can help.
I can transfer accessible files and data from an old Windows PC to your current computer, an external drive, or another storage device.
This can be useful for:
* Old business documents
* Photos and personal documents
* Files from previous computers
* Data you need but haven't been able to access easily
Your Data Stays With You
I perform the work at your location. Your computer, hard drive, and data do not leave your premises.
If you want to keep the old hard drive after the transfer, that's perfectly fine. If you're certain you no longer need anything on it, I can also wipe the drive so you can recycle or dispose of it.
Files and Data, Not Applications
I can transfer files and data, but I cannot transfer installed applications or programs from one computer to another.
If you have an older program on the old computer that you want to use on your new PC, the program will generally need to be installed separately. Depending on the software, you may also need the original installation media, license information, or activation credentials.
I can help transfer the program's associated files and data, when possible, but I cannot guarantee that an older application will work on a newer computer.
Some Data May Require the Original Computer to Work
Some programs, particularly accounting and business applications, store information in a proprietary format. Accessing or properly exporting that information may require the original computer and application to be fully operational.
Simply removing the hard drive and copying files may not provide access to all of the information stored within an application.
If the old computer does not start or the application cannot run, I may not be able to access or export that data.
Windows PCs Only
This service is for Windows PCs.
I cannot recover files from a hard drive that has failed or is no longer accessible. I also cannot access an encrypted drive when the necessary working computer, encryption key, recovery key, or other credentials are unavailable.
Before an old drive is wiped, you must confirm that you no longer need anything stored on it.
