I’m looking for an experienced woodworker in or near the Melrose area for a small project that should take approximately 2–3 hours.
This is not general carpentry work. I need someone who is comfortable doing precise, hands-on wood fitting and shaping where the pieces are curved and do not meet perfectly.
The work requires experience with:
* Fitting and shaping solid wood pieces
* Fairing curved surfaces
* Scribing and trimming pieces to match an existing fixed edge
* Using a block plane, belt sander, jigsaw, and hand tools
* Correcting uneven joints, overhangs, and small alignment problems
* Working carefully with relatively thin wood without removing too much material
* Repeated dry-fitting, marking, trimming, and refinishing the fit
* Ideally, experience with marine woodworking, furniture making, instrument making, pattern making, or other curved/custom woodworking
I am specifically looking for someone who can assess the existing work and determine the best way to create a clean, tight, smooth joint, rather than simply filling gaps.
The project is already partially assembled, so accuracy and judgment are important.
