As a currently performing trumpet player and retired band director, I have wanted to start a trumpet ensemble consisting of talented trumpet players who are now retired as well. This ensemble would perform concerts in a variety of public settings, as well as provide concerts for public school music assemblies and instructional classes during the school day. It would be an opportunity to play some fun, entertaining, and challenging brass music. From pop, to blues, to jazz. The primary goals of this ensemble would be to entertain and to help promote music education.
The plan is to start with a group of 8 trumpet players. We would play not only trumpets, but flugelhorns, cornets, pocket trumpets, piccolo trumpets, bass trumpets, and anything else you might have that has valves!
All music would be practiced in advance and we would then rehearse once or twice a month to make sure all tunes are ready for performance. Hopefully, we can identify a place to rehearse that is centrally located for all. Members of the ensemble would also be welcome to write or arrange pieces for the group, if that is of interest.
Please respond to this ad if you would like further information about the type and styles of music we will be performing, as well as any other general information.
