Hello there!
I'm recently moved back to the area, having spent a lot of time here in my youth and early 20's before living in the Watsonville area for about 20 years. My son is 4th generation SLO county. I'm currently working plaster in Morro Vay 25-30 hours a week and expanding my knowledge base by attending Cuesta part time. My background includes extensive electrical, plumbing, carpentry, finish, and ranch development, and irrigation work up there to and including successful special use permits. As part of an award winning business I grew out, I developed various levels of experience in small scale industrial manufacturing, lab equipment, chemical and process engineering, politics, and other areas that are useful to an entrepreneurial spirit.
I'm looking for an opportunity to partner with a landowner for a couple acres on a larger ranch or farm where I can develop a number of projects, one necessarily be an off-grid, mobile adu with temporary or permanent foundation. I will develop any permits necessary for the property so long as the owner is willing to allow temporary use for housing while permits proceed.
So far as other projects, I would like to find somewhere that can serve as an incubator for some ideas that I've pondered or developed in the past. A few examples are pass-through essential oil and methanol distillation for arborists, conversion of pallets into finished flooring and lumber or various grades, manufacturing organic essential oil based pesticides, developing systems for automating off grid plumbing and energy storage, a native plant/tree nursery, lightweight concrete-organic blend furniture and pottery (plant-pots and fountains), natural wood branch furniture, Generally all things that fall in line with sustainable living and local manufacturing of natural products.
If you have your own ideas of some projects you might have wanted to get off the ground and need a push or help to get going, this could be an exceptional opportunity to have a partner that can help turn ideas into a self supporting side hustle and up to mid size business development and operations. Maybe you have always wanted to start a flower nursery, brewery/distillery, or build furniture. I could help you get something like that of the ground. Or, just take tents or cut off of my projects, either way, we can figure out a way to make us both happy.
This would be a trade type situation or small cash input, since I want to keep sending my resources into materials. In the end you would expect your property to be left with some proportionate increase in value by way of value brought to the property by development or use of natural resources and land, percentage of profits, etc, to be discussed depending on the specific project and inputs by all involved as they come into fruition. Some examples might be to say develop a storage container ADU that I take along with me, but you have a fully permitted ADU and keep a permanent foundation to something like having a 20% stake in patents applicable to some manufacturing process that could later be a total bust or make us both millionaires. Who knows, right?
In a nutshell, I'm looking for a way to offset one of the greatest life expenses and potential barriers by using assets another has, with my asset, experience, being the counter balance that should leave you with more value than you started. If its not a win-win, then it's a losing proposition.
