Does your child earn good grades in English...
...but still struggle to write clearly?
Maybe you notice essays that are:
- disorganized
- repetitive
- filled with simple sentences
- awkward or ungrammatical
- vague instead of precise
If so, your child isn't alone.
Every week we evaluate essays written by Bay Area students.
Many of those students have A's in English.
Yet many cannot organize an essay, write a strong paragraph, or recognize basic grammar mistakes.
The problem isn't that they're lazy.
The problem is that most schools simply don't teach writing systematically anymore.
Students are assigned essays.
But they're rarely taught exactly how to write them.
Grammar receives little attention.
Vocabulary is often left to chance.
Teachers have too many students to provide detailed feedback on every paper.
As a result, many children continue making the same mistakes year after year.
Unfortunately, writing doesn't fix itself.
As assignments become more difficult in high school, the gap between strong writers and weak writers grows wider.
Now there's a new challenge: AI
Many students now rely on ChatGPT or Google Gemini to complete writing assignments.
Those tools can generate essays.
They cannot teach students how to think.
When students depend on AI instead of developing their own writing skills, they become less confident every time they're asked to write independently.
The SAT, AP exams, in-class essays, and college applications still require students to communicate their own ideas.
Strong writing remains one of the most valuable academic skills a student can possess.
That's why we're offering this free writing class.
For over twenty years, Improve Your English has helped Silicon Valley students become stronger readers and writers.
Our students have gone on to attend Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Princeton, MIT, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and many other outstanding universities.
But college admissions aren't where writing begins.
They begin years earlier—with learning the fundamentals correctly.
During this free one-hour class, students will learn:
