Chateau Cupertino is a distinguished Independent Living Community dedicated to seniors, fostering a vibrant and close-knit environment. We offer a comprehensive range of services to our residents, which includes homestyle gourmet menus at every meal, weekly housekeeping, valet service, personal laundry assistance, and a diverse calendar of activities. We are currently seeking a full-time Baker/Pastry Chef to join our dedicated team.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
In our kitchen, we provide up to three meals daily for our senior residents. In the role of Baker/Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating a variety of desserts and baked goods for these meals. This includes preparing morning breads, muffins, freshly baked bread, dinner rolls, pies, cakes, and various other bakery items. Additionally, as the Baker/Pastry Chef, you will also assist with expediting orders and performing light breakfast cooking, such as preparing eggs and pancakes to support breakfast service. Other responsibilities of the Baker/Pastry Chef role involve receiving and managing inventory, maintaining cost control, assisting prep cooks, cleaning cooking utensils, and undertaking any other assigned tasks.

Candidates must possess the ability to read and adhere to recipes, innovate new items for service (creativity is advantageous) or adapt quickly as needed.
Candidates should be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Dependability and a positive attitude are essential.
Candidates must be able to lift weights of up to 50lbs. Quick Order Cooking skills are beneficial.
It is crucial to be responsible for maintaining a clean workstation, properly labeling, and storing food products.
Candidates should be self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
A SERV Safe Certification (valid for 5 years) is required; current handlers care certification will also be accepted.
Effective time management and planning for the week based on menus are necessary.
Education and Experience
Culinary education focused on Baking and Pastry, with an emphasis on certification.
Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in a diverse pastry and baking setting.
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English is required.
Hours:
40 hours per week; Monday through Friday 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Must be available to work one Sunday a month (our Sunday Brunch)
