I’m looking for an experienced audio engineer / film-score producer to take an existing original MIDI-based motion-picture score and bring it to a professional, studio-finished level.
The composition, arrangement, timing, and overall musical direction have already been developed. This is not a songwriting or composition job. I need someone who can work with the existing MIDI material, separate and organize the individual instrument tracks/stems, evaluate the current sounds, and substantially improve the sonic quality of the finished score.
The work will involve replacing or enhancing MIDI instruments where necessary with high-quality orchestral, cinematic, electronic, and percussion libraries; improving dynamics, articulation, expression, spatial placement, and realism; and then professionally mixing and mastering the material so it sounds like a finished cinematic score rather than a MIDI production.
Some sections are intentionally minimal and atmospheric, while others build considerably in scale and intensity. Maintaining the emotional pacing and synchronization of the existing composition is important. I’m looking for someone who understands that cinematic scoring is not simply about making everything louder or bigger—it is about controlling space, tension, dynamics, and escalation.
You should be comfortable working with:
• MIDI track/stem separation and organization
• Professional virtual instruments and sample libraries
• Orchestral and cinematic sound replacement
• MIDI velocity, articulation, expression, and automation
• Sound design and atmospheric elements
• Mixing, EQ, compression, reverb, imaging, and dynamics
• Final mastering suitable for integration into a professionally produced film soundtrack
I can provide the existing MIDI files and reference material demonstrating the intended sonic direction.
Experience with film, television, trailers, cinematic music, or orchestral MIDI production is strongly preferred.
When responding, please include examples of relevant work, the DAW and primary libraries/tools you use, your availability, and your rate or estimated project cost.
