Heyo,
I'm someone who is decent to good to very good at a bunch of instruments. I would really like to back into gigging regularly and would love to find a band or bands that could use something of a pinch hitter to round out their sound. I'm totally happy to just play one instrument, of course, but historically have always done well as a multi-instrumentalist.
I live in Logan Square and happy to rehearse most parts of the city... less inclined to go out to the suburbs if I'm being honest. I'm in my late 30s, know a ton of musicians and venues and things around town, and am extremely professional, friendly and on top of shit. Right now I'm more interesting in joining something that's already in the works as opposed to finding a single collaborator to build something with from scratch. Feel free to reach out no matter what though, always happy to make the connection!
Folk and indie rock? Of course! Jam bands? hell ya dude! Classic rock cover band to play a bar in wrigglyville twice a year? Why not! Tuvan throat singing ensemble? I will try my darndest!
Instruments I am comfortable playing in a band:
- Keyboards -- I would consider myself a very good piano player as well as organ rhoades/wurli, organ etc... I am not that sophisticated of a synthist, however, if you're looking for a more purely electronic vibe.
- Guitar -- I'd call myself an extremely experienced and adept rhythm guitarist with a particular skill for fingerpicking, and a decent but not entirely mindblowing lead guitar player.
- Banjo and Mandolin -- I am very capable at both of these instruments and have played both in bands in the past. I am not however like a jaw dropping bluegrass virtuoso.
- Bass -- I am very much a guitarist that plays bass as opposed to a bassist, but do enjoy it if that is what you need!
Some band types and roles I've filled in the past to give a sense of my versatility:
- Banjo and guitar in a honky-tonk country band
- Lead guitarist in a wannabe Dinosaur Jr - Shoegaze indie band
- Rhythm guitar in a heavier stoner rock but not quite metal band
- Bass player in a gentle singer-songwriter led combo that was too sensative for its own good
- Keyboard player in various Grateful Dead cover ensembles
- Lute in an early music ensemble (really!)
- Singer-songwriter / guitarist in all manner of folk and indie rock and indie folk and indie folk rock projects
- Whole bunch of cover bands
What will be next in this bizarre and meandering musical journey of mine? You tell me!
