A striking original work by Jennifer Cherpock, professional studio potter and member of the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY. Cherpock exhibits nationally at top fine craft shows, and her work is immediately recognizable for its extraordinary marbled surface treatment.
This vase showcases her signature technique: mineral colorants worked directly into the porcelain clay body before throwing, creating layers of swirling slate blue, warm brown, and white that are revealed by carving and surface removal. The result is a one-of-a-kind pattern that could never be reproduced — part geological, part abstract expressionist. The interior is glazed in deep matte black; the exterior is unglazed, smooth, and satiny to the touch.
