***Available for October or November 1st move-in!***
We have 1 bedroom available in our old school style apartment in the heart of Washington Square. It's a large apartment with 4 bdrms, 1 bthrm, an office/studio room, covered deck, great natural lighting in the afternoon/evening, and a friendly indoor cat.
Bedroom: is 12 x11ft, has two south facing windows, 2 x 4ft long wall shelves, radiator heating. It's got a tall, deep closet, and enough space for a queen, desk, dresser, shelves.
Apartment Details: The Kitchen is a good size (12 x 12 ft) with a large pantry for food. It’s painted a retro blue and has a porcelain sink/counter. No cabinets, but we have a pantry and installed shelves in the kitchen.
Bathroom is cute, prob needs some updating (as does the kitchen) but it’s not bad. It has 2 big windows that brings in tons of natural light and there’s a claw foot tub that’s deep enough for a comfortable bath.
Living room: is big and has a huge bay window, and the afternoon light is glorious in there. There’s a little shared office/studio, we use it for art and storage, and the occasional friend visiting.
There's a covered porch (8 x 8 ft) overlooking Beacon/Washington St. Lots of plants and a new, glass patio table + chairs. This is a 3rd story walk-up apartment, but the stairwell is actually wide and easy to move things around.
Laundry: the one washer and dryer in the basement work well but are small, tho we don't really have issues with overlapping with the neighbors. The laundromat is 2 blocks away but we also use the mom & pop laundry delivery service from a place up the road.
Bills: Hot water is included. We pay for hot water, electricity, internet: $150 in Summer; $100 in Winter. $20 Monthly fund for shared items: I buy all the toilet paper, paper towels, sponges, hand soap, dish soap, trash bags in bulk etc
Nearby amenities: We're right in the main drag of Washington Square Brookline, 6 doors away from Beacon Street. Cleveland Circle, Brighton Center, Coolidge Corner, Brookline Village are all within a 10-15min walk. Plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes, running store, pharmacy, liquor store, and nail salon all within 5 min walk.
Grocery stores:
Star Market: .3 miles - 5 minute walk, or C-line 1 stop
Whole foods: .5 miles - 9 min walk, or 65 bus
Trader Joe's: .9 miles - 17 minute walk, or C-line
Public transit: Both the 65 Bus and green C-line are a 2 min walk around the corner. The 65 goes to Kenmore Square, Longwood, Fenway, and Brighton Center. The green D-line and B-line are 7-10 minute walks away.
Parking: Brookline doesn't allow overnight parking for anyone, but our landlord rents parking spots.
The roommates: We don’t have a ton of people over to the apartment, it’s mostly the same 4 close friends that come by a few times a month. They are friendly and like to hang around with us and any of the roommates who are home. We’d love for your friends/partners to visit too…the deck is totally meant for chilling.
I am a 40 F and have lived here 6 years; I have a lot of plants, and am very handy around the apartment. The other roommates are a 43F; she’s lived here for 15+years, has a 12 y.o. cat, enjoys weaving, and many other craft forms. She and I met at work years ago and have been friends since. We've lived together here for years and have lucked out in finding excellent roommates for the other rooms. The 3rd roommate is a 39F, a massive traveler, and has a ton of cool interests all over the city. She's moving in Sept 1st for the first time; we met her on craiglist recently but loved her from her very first email. Now we're all excited to see who else is looking for a big apartment with lots of personal space, to take the 4th bedroom.
We’re looking for a roommate who is: (ideally) out of undergrad, staying more than a year, enjoys living with people, and cleans up and fixes things around the apartment as needed. A light sleeper will find the apartment loud: we can hear the green line screeches in the common rooms (not really in the bedrooms tho), and 4 ppl in one apartment will always create some noise. But the apartment is pretty big with thick walls, and the 3rd floor on a quiet street generally drowns out most street noise.
