One of the worst experiences that happens all too often is they pay to have a website developed. They never get their own passwords. The developer makes a mess - incorrect information, typographical errors, wrong prices. This is what the public sees. The client can't change it because the webmaster has disappeared.
Speaking of disappearing, more than one of my clients has lost significant money with website developers who took a large deposit, maybe made a little bit of a start, and then no longer answer the phone or emails.
