I am seeking a compassionate, reliable, detail-oriented and committed Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct, one-on-one care in an apartment setting. The ideal candidate will help ensure my safety, comfort, dignity and independence by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and household support in a respectful, homelike environment.
Location: Boxborough
Part-time: 8-16 hours/week to start, more possible in future
Mid-day & afternoons but flexible
M-F, 2-3 hour blocks of time preferable
Weekends possible
$19.50/hour
$20/hour upon successful completion of 4-hr on-line training
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Personal Care: Assist with occasional personal hygiene including grooming and dressing (buttons)
• Mobility & Transfers: Safely assist with transfers as needed (e.g., bed to wheelchair, sitting to standing) and support light mobility or walking.
• Meal Preparation: Assist with heating and cooking prepared foods and cleanup.
• Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized apartment environment, including laundry, dishwashing, taking out trash, and changing bed linens. (I am meticulous about cleanliness, neatness and organization.)
• Errands & Companionship: Do grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups, and drive me to appointments. Provide social companionship.
Outings: Willing to drive me on short outings to get me out in the world (e.g., coffee shops, restaurants)
• Exercise: Assist with exercise regimen; accompany me to on-site gym.
• Feedback: Open to receiving and providing feedback. Welcomes feedback.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have a car
• Compassionate, patient demeanor with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and physically capable of performing transfers and light lifting. (I do well transferring alone but sometimes require an occasional assist.)
• Must pass a standard background check (CORI) and provide professional references.
• First Aid / CPR certification is a strong plus.
