About BSG
We are a boutique retained executive search firm partnering with growing companies to identify and recruit exceptional leadership and professional talent. Our work is relationship-driven, research-intensive, and focused on finding the right people for our clients’ most important hiring needs.
As our firm continues to grow, we are looking for talented, curious, and self-motivated Recruiting Consultants to join our remote team on a part-time contract basis.
The Opportunity
As a Retained Executive Search Recruiter/Consultant, you will support multiple retained searches by identifying, engaging, researching, and evaluating potential candidates. You will work directly with accomplished professionals and executives, helping our clients identify talent that aligns with their business needs, role requirements, and organizational culture.
This role goes beyond reviewing resumes. It requires curiosity, thoughtful questioning, strong research skills, and the ability to understand what motivates people to make a career move. You will learn our search methodology and work collaboratively with an experienced team in a flexible, fully remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Candidate Research & Identification: Research industries, companies, and talent pools to identify qualified candidates for active retained searches.
• Candidate Outreach & Engagement: Initiate contact with prospective candidates, communicate career opportunities, and develop relationships with potential talent.
• Candidate Screening & Assessment: Conduct thoughtful, in-depth conversations to evaluate experience, accomplishments, leadership capabilities, and alignment with specific role requirements.
• Investigative Candidate Qualification: Ask probing questions to understand career progression, motivations for considering a change, professional goals, cultural fit, and potential concerns.
• Compensation & Logistics: Discuss current compensation, compensation expectations, geographic preferences, relocation considerations, and other factors relevant to a potential career move.
• Search Management: Track candidate activity, maintain accurate records, and manage follow-up activities using our cloud-based candidate management and project management systems.
• Team Collaboration: Partner with colleagues to share research, discuss candidate assessments, and maintain momentum across multiple searches.
What We're Looking For
We are interested in individuals who combine strong interpersonal skills with analytical thinking, curiosity, and a genuine interest in understanding people and talent.
Successful candidates may bring experience from a variety of backgrounds, including:
• Talent acquisition, recruiting, or human resources
• Management consulting or business research
• Executive recruiting or talent assessment
• Investigative research, interviewing, or reporting
• Other roles requiring relationship development, information gathering, and critical evaluation
The qualities that matter most:
• Intellectual curiosity: You enjoy asking questions, exploring career histories, and understanding what drives people professionally.
• Strong interviewing skills: You are comfortable leading conversations, probing beyond surface-level answers, and assessing a person's experience and motivations.
• Research and analytical ability: You can connect information, evaluate qualifications, and identify potential matches against specific search criteria.
• Excellent communication: You are professional, engaging, articulate, and comfortable interacting with accomplished professionals and senior executives.
• Organization and follow-through: You can prioritize competing demands, manage multiple searches, and keep candidate activity moving forward.
• Self-motivation: You work independently, take ownership of your responsibilities, and thrive in a remote, collaborative environment.
Prior retained executive search experience is a plus, but it is not required. We provide training on our search process, methodology, systems, and tools.
What We Offer
