Are you looking for professional music lessons for yourself or your child? Whether you're interested in learning an instrument for the first time, developing your musical abilities, or taking your performance skills to the next level, Amabile School of Music provides a welcoming and supportive environment for students of all ages and experience levels. Established in 2008, our school has been helping students discover their musical interests, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for music. With experienced instructors, personalized lesson plans, and exciting performance opportunities, we make learning music both enjoyable and rewarding.
At Amabile School of Music, we believe every student has the potential to grow as a musician. Our qualified teachers take the time to understand each student's interests, learning style, and personal goals. Whether your child is just beginning piano lessons, an adult wants to learn guitar, or an experienced musician hopes to improve their technique, we provide instruction designed around individual needs. Students can explore different musical styles, including classical, jazz, pop, Latin, and many others, while developing the technical knowledge and confidence needed to enjoy playing music.
Music Lessons for Every Age and Skill Level
We offer a variety of music lessons and classes for children, teenagers, adults, and beginners. Students can explore instruments such as piano, guitar, violin, drums, and voice, along with opportunities to develop their musical abilities through group classes, choirs, ensembles, and band experiences. Our programs are suitable for complete beginners as well as students who already have musical experience and want to advance their skills.
For younger students, music education provides an opportunity to develop creativity, concentration, coordination, and self-expression. We also welcome babies, toddlers, and young children through age-appropriate music activities and classes that introduce them to rhythm, sounds, and musical interaction. Adult students can enjoy learning at their own pace, whether music has always been a personal interest or they are returning to an instrument after several years.
Professional Piano, Drum, Guitar, Violin and Singing Lessons
Our instructors provide structured yet enjoyable lessons that help students build strong musical foundations. Piano students can develop reading skills, rhythm, technique, musical expression, and performance abilities. Guitar and violin lessons focus on proper technique, coordination, music reading, and learning songs. Singing students can work on vocal development, pitch, breathing, confidence, and musical interpretation.
Drum lessons are also available for students interested in developing their rhythm, coordination, and overall musicianship. Instruction can cover essential techniques and fundamentals, including rudiments, hand coordination, proper playing posture, reading drum notation, and developing control behind the instrument. Students can also work on groove, timing, musical feel, and finding their own playing style.
Learning familiar songs is another enjoyable part of drum instruction. Students can practice playing along with their favorite music while developing the skills needed to perform with other musicians. For those interested in joining a band, lessons can include listening techniques, maintaining rhythm, following other instruments, and understanding how to work together as part of a musical group.
A Rewarding Musical Ladder System®
One of the unique features of Amabile School of Music is our Musical Ladder System®, a motivating reward program designed to encourage consistent practice and celebrate student achievements. As students progress through their musical studies and successfully pass musical tests, they can earn colorful wristbands, trophies, and certificates that recognize their accomplishments.
This patent-pending program gives students meaningful goals to work toward and helps make their musical journey more exciting. Rather than focusing only on lessons and practice, students have opportunities to recognize their progress and feel proud of the skills they develop along the way. These rewards encourage dedication, build confidence, and help students stay motivated as they move toward new musical challenges.
Experienced Teachers and Personalized Instruction
Our teaching philosophy focuses on creating a relaxed, positive, and encouraging learning experience. We understand that every student develops at a different pace, so our instructors adjust their teaching methods according to individual abilities and interests. Some students may want to learn music for enjoyment, while others may be preparing for examinations, competitions, auditions, or professional performance opportunities.
Our teachers work closely with families to arrange convenient lesson schedules that fit around school, work, and other commitments. We aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new musical ideas, and learning from their mistakes. By combining professional instruction with patience and encouragement, we help students develop skills that they can continue using throughout their lives.
ABRSM Preparation, Recitals and Performance Opportunities
For students who want to pursue formal musical education, we offer preparation for ABRSM examinations. These lessons help students strengthen their technical abilities, improve musical understanding, and prepare for examination requirements. Our instructors provide guidance throughout the learning process so students can approach their exams with greater confidence.
Students also have opportunities to showcase their progress through recitals and local community performances. Performing in front of an audience allows musicians to develop stage presence, overcome nervousness, and gain valuable experience. We provide recital opportunities at a world-class venue, giving students an exciting chance to share their achievements with family, friends, and the wider community.
In addition to individual performances, students can explore playing in groups, bands, choirs, and ensembles. These experiences help develop teamwork, listening abilities, timing, and collaboration while making music a more social and enjoyable activity.
Founded by Concert Pianist and Educator Teresa Yu
Amabile School of Music was founded in 2008 by Teresa Yu, a concert pianist, chamber musician, and dedicated music educator. Her vision was to establish a welcoming musical community where children and adults could explore their interests, discover their abilities, and experience the enjoyment of making music.
Teresa has an extensive background in musical performance and education. She was invited to perform twice at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as part of the Conservatory Project in May 2005 and 2007. She also worked as a chamber music institute coach at the Music@Menlo International Music Festival and served as a judge for the Chopin Competition in San Francisco.
From 2010 to 2012, Teresa toured Europe and America with her piano trio, Aleron, performing for audiences in different locations. Her previous teaching experience includes Notre Dame des Victoires, West Portal Lutheran, Old Mill School, and the Nueva School. She holds a Master's Degree in Piano Performance and the prestigious Artist Certificate in Chamber Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Her experience as a performer and educator continues to influence the school's commitment to quality instruction, artistic development, and a supportive learning environment.
More Than Just Music Lessons
We believe that music education should extend beyond the classroom. That's why we provide opportunities for students to connect with other musicians, participate in community activities, and experience live performances. Students can explore different instruments and musical styles while discovering what interests them most.
We also offer summer camps, music classes, group programs, and opportunities to participate in choirs and musical ensembles. Enrolled students can take advantage of affordable practice room rentals, while our referral programs provide additional benefits to families who recommend our school to others. Tuition assistance and free classes may also be available to help make music education more accessible.
Families can enjoy hundreds of free or low-cost concerts throughout the year through the local music community, creating additional opportunities to experience live music and discover new artists.
