We are seeking several energetic, fast-paced, and highly organized Porter/Runner to join our dynamic team. In an All-You-Can-Eat dining environment, speed and efficiency are everything. You will act as the vital link between the kitchen and the dining floor. Your primary mission is to keep the self-serve buffet bars or tableside delivery lines continuously replenished with fresh, hot dishes while maintaining clean, safe, and heavily stocked stations.
* Buffet Line Replenishment: Safely and rapidly transport heavy, high-temperature hotel pans of food from the kitchen line to the buffet bars. Monitor food volumes to prevent any station from running empty.
* Station Setup & Smallware Stocking: Set up the front service lines with all necessary equipment, including clean plate ware, serving spoons, tongs, and under-liners. Restock items continuously throughout the shift.
* Cross-Department Communication: Coordinate closely with chefs and front-of-house staff to time the delivery of "hot and cold" items seamlessly.
* Clearing and Table Support: Efficiently transport stacks of dirty dishes and trays back to the dishwashing station to ensure tables turn over quickly for waiting guests.
* Safety & Sanitation Maintenance: Enforce strict adherence to NY food safety principles, verifying that buffet lines remain free of spills, foods stay at proper holding temperatures, and clean rags are used to keep service surfaces pristine.
* Ability to stand and walk continuously for long shifts (6 to 8 hours) in a fast-paced environment.
* Capability to safely lift, carry, and balance large loaded food trays or heavy kitchen pans weighing up to 40–50 lbs.
* High tolerance for moving rapidly between hot kitchen environments and air-conditioned dining floors.
* Experience: Prior restaurant or hospitality experience (e.g., busser, runner, porter) is preferred but not required; a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
* Communication: Basic proficiency in English to understand internal task instructions, communicate food items clearly, and assist with occasional guest inquiries.
* Availability: Flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, when AYCE traffic peaks.
