My goal is simple: you should have a working computer, with as much security as you can afford, so it stays out of the way of your work, your family calls and your get-togethers. I fix the problem, and if you'd like, I'll show you how to handle it yourself next time, at your pace and skill level.

I'm an independent tech based in Acton. I've worked with computers since the 1970s, including 32 years in the tech industry, 12 in education and 26 running my own business. Most work can be done remotely. If your computer won't start or can't get online, call anyway and I'll talk you through it by phone. On-site visits and pick-up or drop-off are by appointment.

Still on Windows 10?

Microsoft ended regular Windows 10 support in October 2025. If your PC is compatible, the Windows 11 license is free and I can do the upgrade for you. If it isn't, I can enroll you in Microsoft's extended security updates, which run through October 2027.

On Windows 11, the choice is yours: if you'd rather not sign in with a Microsoft account or have your files moved to OneDrive, I can set you up with a local account and keep your files on your own PC.

What I fix and set up

• Repair and upgrades: Windows 10 and 11, Mac, slow or crashing computers, hardware upgrades, custom PC builds, older systems (XP, 7, 8)
• Wi-Fi and networking: routers, mesh Wi-Fi, Ethernet wiring, VPNs, SonicWall firewalls, long-range wireless, secure remote access to your PC
• Security: virus and malware removal, ransomware consulting, multifactor authentication (MFA), password managers, identity protection, parental controls
• Backup and data recovery: backups that actually run, and recovery when they didn't
• Email and software: Microsoft 365 and Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, QuickBooks, Zoom, Zoho invoicing
• Phones, TVs and printers: iPhone, Android, tablets, smart TVs, Roku, Xfinity and Verizon setups, printers and scanners, sound systems

What I can help you get done

Write a letter to a company that gets a real answer. Pull together the paperwork for a warranty claim or billing dispute so it prints cleanly and makes your case. Scan and organize a pile of documents. Compare products before a big purchase. Plan a trip and load the route into your GPS. Build a budget or a spreadsheet. Write a resume or an ad for your own business.

Learn to use AI for the things I'm not an expert in. I'm not a mechanic, an accountant or a lawyer. I can teach you to use AI to research a car or appliance repair before you call someone, get organized for tax season, make sense of a contract or a confusing bill, learn a new subject, or turn a rough idea into a written plan you can hand to a professional. You'll also learn how to check its answers. I teach whichever tool you prefer: Claude (the one I rely on most), ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Grok or DeepSeek.

About cost

I don't send a bill. When the job is done, I tell you the hours it should have taken, and you pay what you think is fair, by the hour or for the whole job. The initial diagnosis isn't counted in those hours. I work this way because I'd rather you call early than wait and worry about the price. If money is tight, pay what you can. I don't sell hardware either: I help you choose it and you buy it yourself.
