Hello! I'm a 21-year-old guitarist and gigging musician based in Walnut Creek. I've been playing for 5+ years, have 2+ years of teaching experience, and received my Associate in Arts in Jazz from Diablo Valley College.
I currently have a couple openings for new students, as a handful of my students have recently moved on to college.
I teach beginner to intermediate players and can help with:
Beginner fundamentals
Rhythm and lead playing
Music theory
Rock, blues, jazz, funk, fingerpicking, and more
I play and gig regularly around the East Bay, so I like to keep lessons practical and focused on actually playing music, rather than just running through exercises and theory with no context. Over the years, I've developed an easygoing, adaptable approach to teaching beginners, so don't worry if you have little to no experience!
Every student is different, so I'm flexible with how I teach. If you want to learn songs and have fun with guitar, that's great. If you want to get more serious and work on technique, theory, improvisation, or songwriting, we can go that route too. I've taught a wide range of ages, from 7 years old to 32, so I'm comfortable adapting lessons to different ages, personalities, and experience levels.
I'm easygoing and patient, but I also want you to keep progressing. My goal is for you to leave each lesson feeling like you actually learned something and have something new to work on.
IN PERSON: Contra Costa County, based in Walnut Creek. I come to you and can provide a guitar if you don't have one. $75/hour, $40 for 1/2 hour. I have a jazz degree from DVC, regular gigging experience around the East Bay, and 2+ years of teaching experience.
ONLINE: Available through Zoom. Contact me for rates. I prefer in-person teaching since it's easier to correct technique and hand positioning in real time, but I've taught several students successfully over Zoom using different camera angles and adapted feedback methods to work around it.
