Montesacro Walnut Creek, part of Mint Group SF, is looking for an experienced Bartender/Server to join our FOH team. We are looking for a professional, energetic, and service-oriented Server/Bartender to join our team. This is a hybrid position responsible for providing excellent table service while also confidently and efficiently working behind the bar.
Key Responsibilities
Provide attentive, friendly, and professional service to all guests.
Work both serving and bartending shifts based on business needs and scheduling.
Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar.
Follow responsible alcohol service and restaurant policies.
Demonstrate knowledge of the menu, wine selection, cocktails, and beverage offerings.
Make recommendations and confidently answer guest questions about food and beverages.
Communicate effectively with the kitchen, bar, hosts, managers, and team members.
Handle opening and/or closing duties as assigned.
Maintain proper cash handling and POS procedures.
Complete side work, restocking, cleaning, and organization as assigned.
Support a positive team environment and smooth service during busy shifts.
Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and company standards.
Serving & Bartending Responsibilities:
Shift Distribution: The position will be scheduled between serving and bartending based on business
needs, employee strengths, and availability. Approximately 3 serving / 1 bartending].
Bartending Experience: Previous bartending experience is preferred. Candidates should be comfortable
preparing classic and house cocktails, wine, beer, and other beverages.
Bar Opening & Closing: The Server/Bartender may be responsible for opening and/or closing the bar,
including stocking, preparation, cleaning, organization, and completion of closing procedures.
Beverage Knowledge
Strong knowledge of wine, including basic varietals and food pairings.
Knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails.
Familiarity with beer and non-alcoholic beverages.
Ability to describe beverages confidently and make recommendations based on guest preferences.
Willingness to continue learning about the restaurant's beverage program and menu.
Schedule & Availability
Approximately 3-4 shifts per week
Availability required: Weekends
Must be available to work weekends/evenings/holidays.
Flexibility between serving and bartending shifts is required.
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $16.50 per hour, plus tips.
Qualifications
Previous serving and bartending experience preferred.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
Knowledge of POS systems preferred.
Current required alcohol service and food safety certifications.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with training and supporting other team members.
Maintain bar and service station organization.
Restock wine, beer, liquor, and other beverages.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to management.
Assist management with maintaining service standards.
Support the team during high-volume service.
Help create a welcoming and professional atmosphere for guests and coworkers.
