The Responsible Managing Employee (RME) is a full-time, on-site role based in Apple Valley, CA, overseeing the day-to-day construction and remodeling operations for a well established Home Remodeling company. This role is responsible for ensuring all projects comply with California building codes, contractor licensing requirements, and company safety standards. The RME will supervise project planning, coordinate crews and subcontractors, review permits and inspections, and monitor timelines and budgets to keep jobs on track. Daily activities include reviewing plans and specifications, approving change orders, resolving on-site issues, and serving as a primary technical resource for the team. The RME also supports quality control, maintains documentation for regulatory compliance, and collaborates with leadership to improve processes and uphold client satisfaction. Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to manage residential remodeling projects, including kitchens, bathrooms, and related trades.
Strong knowledge of California building codes, permitting processes, safety regulations, and contractor licensing requirements.
Experience supervising field staff and subcontractors, with skills in scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow coordination.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contracts, with attention to detail and quality standards.
Effective communication and leadership skills, including the ability to provide clear direction, resolve conflicts, and collaborate with clients and team members.
Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on practical solutions, jobsite safety, and risk mitigation.
Working knowledge of basic construction tools, materials, and techniques applicable to home remodeling environments.
Comfort with basic digital tools (email, project tracking, documentation software) for reporting, recordkeeping, and coordination.
Current or eligible California contractor license or qualification to serve as RME under state requirements.
Previous experience in residential construction or remodeling; experience in kitchen and bathroom projects is highly beneficial.
Ability to work on-site full time in Apple Valley, CA, including standing, walking, and working in active construction environments.
