MSP IT Support Technician
One Extra Consulting, LLC
Location: Vancouver, WA Area | Primarily Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2 Employee
Compensation: $28.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience
About the Position:
One Extra Consulting is a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) looking for an IT Support Technician to join our technical team.
This is a full-time W-2 employee position designed for someone who enjoys technology, troubleshooting, working with clients, and continually developing their technical skills. Unlike an internal IT position where you may support the same network and applications every day, working with an MSP provides exposure to a wide variety of technologies and client environments.
What You'll Do:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for MSP clients
- Troubleshoot Windows desktops and laptops
- Diagnose hardware, software, operating system, and application problems
- Support Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
- Support Google Workspace environments
- Create, modify, disable, and troubleshoot user accounts
- Assist with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace management, monitoring and migrations
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, WLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and internet connectivity issues
- Troubleshoot firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and other network equipment
- Deploy and configure computers, applications, and user environments
- Support printers, scanners, VoIP phones, and other office technology
- Use remote monitoring and management tools to support client systems
- Monitor and respond to alerts generated by client environments
- Document troubleshooting, configurations, and resolutions
- Maintain accurate client and technical documentation
- Escalate complex issues when appropriate
- Participate in client IT projects and deployments
- Follow cybersecurity, documentation, and IT support best practices
You do not need to be an expert in everything listed above. We're looking for someone with good technical fundamentals, strong troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to learn and grow with the company.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 2+ years of professional IT support experience
- CompTIA A+ certification
- Strong Windows troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365
- Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional and patient customer-service skills
- Ability to clearly document technical work
- Ability to manage multiple tickets and priorities
- Ability to work independently while recognizing when an issue should be escalated
- Reliable internet connection and an appropriate remote-work environment
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client locations when necessary
For someone early or mid-career in IT, an MSP environment can provide exposure to significantly more technologies and situations than a typical single-company help desk role.
Schedule and Work Environment:
- Full-time W-2 employment
- Monday through Friday
- Primarily remote
- Pacific Time business hours
- Occasional on-site client work
- Some projects may occasionally require work outside normal business hours
How to Apply:
Please submit your resume along with a short introduction describing your IT experience.
We'd especially like to hear about:
1. Your experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments
2. Your Windows troubleshooting experience
3. Your networking experience
4. Any previous MSP experience
5. Technologies you're most comfortable supporting
6. Technologies you'd like to learn
7. Where you'd like your IT career to be in the next few years
