Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic Japanese 2-piece modular stacking clothing chest (Seiri Tansu) from the Shōwa era. This is an incredibly solid, heavily built, and high-quality piece of traditional furniture. One family owner and I brought it from Japan.

The front facade features a dramatic, highly sought-after natural Kurogaki (Black Persimmon / 黒柿) wood veneer. The book-matched wood grain is stunning and creates an organic, ink-wash landscape pattern across the drawer fronts.

The original official Japanese Ministry quality control label remains fully intact inside the drawer, verifying the premium materials and authentic build.

Specifications & Materials:
- Dimensions: 105 cm W x 45 cm D x 132 cm H (Approx. 41.3" W x 17.7" D x 52" H)
- Drawer Interiors: Pure Kiri (Paulownia) wood — a premium wood traditionally used in Japan because it is naturally moisture, odor, and insect-resistant.
- Structural Build: This is an exceptionally solid and well-constructed unit. The horizontal seam on the sides allows the dresser to safely separate into two individual stacking sections, making it much easier to move and transport.
- Hardware & Finish: Sleek, minimalist mid-century linear bar pulls running flush along the drawers. The exterior features a beautiful high-gloss factory protective finish.

Condition:
Mechanically perfect and structurally rock-solid. All drawers pull and slide beautifully. Cosmetically, it is in great vintage shape with one exception: there is a vertical surface scratch and a small veneer chip on the front edge of one drawer panel (visible in the photos). It has been priced lower accordingly, but it remains a gorgeous, collector-level piece.
