Position Overview
Struc is seeking a Junior Large Format Printer Operator to join our production team.
This is a hands-on position focused primarily on operating digital printing and finishing equipment, preparing materials, monitoring print quality, and supporting the day-to-day workflow of our print department.
The ideal candidate has some experience in digital printing, signage, graphics production, or a related production environment and is interested in developing their skills further. We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working with equipment, and willing to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Press & Large Format Printing
Set up and operate large format digital printing equipment.
Load roll and sheet materials into printing equipment.
Prepare printers for daily production and scheduled jobs.
Select appropriate materials and basic print settings based on job specifications.
Monitor printers during production to ensure consistent output.
Inspect printed materials for obvious defects, banding, registration issues, color variation, or damage.
Make basic adjustments to print settings as needed.
Follow job tickets and production instructions carefully.
Track quantities and confirm that the correct number of pieces are produced.
Organize completed printed materials for the next stage of production.
Help keep jobs moving efficiently through the print department.
Production & Finishing Support
Assist with trimming, laminating, mounting, cutting, and other finishing processes.
Prepare printed materials for digital cutting or fabrication.
Help handle and organize large sheets, rolls, and rigid materials.
Label and organize completed production work.
Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Assist other production departments when needed.
Follow safe material-handling and equipment procedures.
Basic File Preparation
Open and review production files before printing.
Confirm basic information such as size, orientation, quantity, and artwork version.
Make simple file adjustments when needed.
Prepare basic print layouts and cut files with guidance from senior team members.
Use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, or RIP software for basic production tasks.
Identify obvious artwork issues and bring them to the attention of a supervisor or designer.
Advanced prepress knowledge is not required for this position.
Quality Control
Inspect printed output throughout production.
Compare production pieces to approved samples or job specifications.
Check for printing defects before materials move to finishing.
Maintain consistency between multiple prints within the same job.
Communicate immediately if something appears incorrect.
Attention to detail is extremely important, as many of our projects are custom and produced for major consumer brands.
Qualifications
Some experience in digital printing, large format printing, signage, graphics production, or a related production environment is preferred.
Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical ability and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
Basic familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Acrobat is helpful.
Comfortable working with computers and production equipment.
Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong attention to detail.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to manage several production tasks during a busy workday.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work well with others.
Willingness to learn new equipment, materials, and production processes.
Helpful Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required:
Large format flatbed printers
Roll-to-roll printers
UV, latex, or eco-solvent printing
RIP software
Laminators
Digital cutting tables
Vinyl cutting
CNC routing
Mounting and finishing
Signage, packaging, displays, or graphics production
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move rolls, sheets, and production materials.
Comfortable working around printing and fabrication equipment.
Ability to safely handle large printed sheets and rigid substrates.
