Seeking 1 Lead Child Actor and 3 Supporting Roles | Los Angeles Area
We are seeking talented, expressive young performers for an upcoming short film project shooting on a Saturday in mid-November 2026. We are looking to cast four children for roles that explore childhood, peer pressure, conflict, and the courage to stand up for oneself.
We welcome submissions from families of all backgrounds. No professional acting experience is necessarily required; we are interested in finding children who are natural on camera, comfortable expressing emotions, and excited to participate in a film production.
ROLE 1: LEAD CHARACTER — MUSLIM BOY
Age: Approximately 9 years old (could be older or slightly younger)
Ethnicity: African American / Black
Gender: Male
Role type: Lead
We are looking for a young African American boy to portray a Muslim child who is central to the story. The character should feel authentic, relatable, thoughtful, and emotionally expressive.
The ideal performer can communicate a range of emotions through facial expressions, and natural reactions. The role may involve scenes of peer conflict, vulnerability, and personal strength, so the actor should be comfortable performing age-appropriate dramatic material with direction and support.
We welcome submissions from Muslim families and performers, particularly those who can bring an authentic understanding of the character's cultural and religious identity. Acting experience is a plus, but a natural personality, willingness to learn, and comfort in front of the camera are equally important.
ROLES 2–4: THREE BULLY CHARACTERS
Age: Approximately 8–11 years old
Ethnicity: Open to all ethnicities
Gender: Open, depending on the character and casting
Role type: Supporting
We are seeking three young performers to portray school-age bullies. These characters will participate in scenes involving teasing, intimidation, and peer conflict as required by the script.
The ideal candidates are expressive, energetic, able to follow direction, and capable of portraying believable schoolyard behavior without engaging in actual aggressive conduct. We are looking for distinct personalities and natural performances that help bring the story to life.
No particular ethnicity or prior acting background is required. Children should be comfortable participating in supervised dramatic scenes appropriate for their age.
