Community Playgrounds, Inc. is the largest commercial playground installation company in California. We complete hundreds of projects annually for schools, parks, childcare centers, and HOAs throughout the state, specializing in playground equipment, shade structures, and safety surfacing construction.
Position Summary
The Project Coordinator is a hybrid office and field position supporting the planning, coordination, installation, and closeout of playground construction projects throughout Northern California.
This is not exclusively an administrative role. The Project Coordinator is expected to perform hands-on field labor as dispatched by the Superintendent, including the installation and repair of playground equipment, shade structures, playground surfacing, and Corkeen surfacing.
When not assigned to field work, the default office and warehouse schedule is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise instructed by a supervisor. The amount of office and field work will vary based on project schedules, staffing needs, and company workload.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Coordination
Assist with projects from award through completion and closeout.
Review plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, submittals, and installation requirements.
Maintain project files, schedules, logs, reports, photographs, and correspondence.
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, customers, suppliers, subcontractors, inspectors, and field crews.
Track materials, deliveries, inspections, deadlines, change orders, requests for information, and outstanding items.
Assist with procurement, invoice review, cost tracking, billing support, and closeout documentation.
Complete administrative tasks related to job setup and facilitate the timely completion of project work.
Identify and report schedule, cost, quality, safety, material, or site-condition concerns.
Prepare field reports and accurately track labor, materials, equipment, and completed work.
Field Labor and Installation
Report to assigned project sites, warehouses, or staging areas as directed.
Perform physical construction labor under the direction of the Superintendent, Foreman, or Lead Installer.
Load, unload, transport, stage, assemble, install, repair, and protect materials and equipment.
Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, mixers, compactors, and other equipment after proper training.
Assist with layout, measurements, excavation, grading, concrete work, assembly, fastening, cleanup, and site protection.
Perform punch-list work, warranty repairs, service calls, and return visits.
Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas.
Field labor is an essential function of this position.
Office and Warehouse Support
When not dispatched to field work, the Project Coordinator will report to the office and warehouse during the default schedule of 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise instructed by a supervisor, and perform assigned administrative and operational duties, including:
Complete project setup, documentation, scheduling, procurement, and other administrative tasks needed to facilitate project completion.
Assist warehouse personnel with receiving, unloading, loading, staging, and organizing materials for upcoming projects.
Prepare tools, equipment, materials, hardware, and supplies for field crews.
Verify that materials and equipment are complete, properly labeled, organized, and ready for dispatch.
Assist with the return, sorting, cleanup, and storage of materials, tools, and equipment following project completion.

Clean and maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and installation supplies as directed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized office, warehouse, yard, and staging area.
Conduct inventory counts and maintain records of warehouse materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Identify and report damaged, missing, low-stock, or improperly stored items.
Assist with receiving documentation, packing lists, delivery inspections, returns, and freight-damage reporting.
Manage the checkout, return, storage, maintenance, and condition of company tools and equipment.
Assist with purchasing and replenishing tools, equipment, consumables, safety supplies, and warehouse inventory.
Perform other office, warehouse, and project-support duties assigned by management.
Playground Equipment and Shade Structures
Receive, inventory, stage, assemble, and install playground equipment and shade structures.
Assist with layouts, footing locations, excavation, concrete placement, anchors, posts, frames, hardware, fabric, and equipment components.
Verify alignment, elevations, clearances, spacing, and installation details.
Follow approved plans, engineering requirements, manufacturer instructions, and supervisor direction.
Report missing, damaged, incorrect, or defective materials.
Playground Repair
Inspect and repair damaged or worn playground equipment and components.
Replace panels, decks, slides, climbers, swing parts, hardware, surfacing, and related materials.
Remove damaged or obsolete equipment as assigned.
Document completed repairs and unresolved safety concerns.
Playground and Corkeen Surfacing
Assist with the installation of poured-in-place surfacing, Corkeen, synthetic turf, tiles, engineered wood fiber, aggregate, and related systems.
Prepare substrates by cleaning, grading, compacting, patching, or drying installation areas.
Receive, stage, mix, transport, spread, screed, compact, cut, glue, roll, and finish surfacing materials.
Install edges, transitions, ramps, seams, drainage components, and surfacing around playground posts and footings.
Follow approved thicknesses, slopes, color selections, specifications, and manufacturer instructions.
For Corkeen installations, assist with primers, mixing, batching, placement, screeding, hand-troweling, compaction, and curing protection.
Monitor weather and site conditions that may affect installation or curing.
Record material quantities, lot numbers, batch information, installation areas, weather conditions, and photographs.
Protect completed surfaces from traffic, water, debris, vandalism, and construction damage.
Perform repairs, patches, corrective work, testing support, and punch-list work as directed.
Complete required Corkeen and manufacturer training.
Safety and Compliance
Follow company safety policies and applicable project, manufacturer, and regulatory requirements.
Attend required training and safety meetings.
Wear required personal protective equipment.
Inspect tools and equipment before use.
Promptly report injuries, unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, property damage, and near misses.
Follow requirements for lifting, fall protection, heat illness prevention, chemical handling, excavation, and equipment operation.
Support prevailing-wage, certified-payroll, apprenticeship, and public-works documentation when required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of field-work experience.
Construction, installation, project coordination, estimating, procurement, or administrative experience preferred.
Experience with playgrounds, shade structures, surfacing, concrete, landscaping, or public works is beneficial.
Ability to read plans, specifications, installation drawings, and manufacturer instructions.
Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and follow-through skills.
Ability and willingness to perform office, warehouse, and physical field work.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PDF software.
Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Sage 100 Contractor, PlanSwift, or similar software is beneficial.
Valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to travel throughout Northern California and occasionally stay overnight.
Physical Requirements
Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, push, pull, and work on uneven terrain.
Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
