Striking modernist studio art tile by a contemporary tile artist Marina Bosetti.
Ms. Bosetti is currently active and has produced a very accomplished body of work including both tiles and vases.
This tile features a dramatic abstracted nude figure and demonstrates the use of a very unique wax-resist glaze technique.
This technique allows the artist to produce remarkable variations in color and texture.
The rectangle that frames the nude combines a vibrant metallic copper glaze with highlights of dark green. I tried to capture the
intensity and richness of these colors by taking photos from different angles; I assure you it looks better in person!
Ms. Bosetti used the dancing nudes motif until 2001. She currently lives and works in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The tile measures 5.5 inches by 5.5 inches and 1 inch deep.
