Benson Drywall is bringing on skilled drywall finishers and texture specialists for 90-day rotational tours in the Portland, OR metro area. If you do clean, Level 5 residential work and dead-on texture matches, you shouldn't be stuck grinding out piece-rate board for low local wages. Our schedule is packed year-round, and our lead finisher cleared over $78,000 this year working a structured schedule.

Built for Traveling Pros: We set up our 90-day tours so you can come out, work steady indoor hours, and send serious income back home without getting eaten alive by living expenses. We provide pre-arranged, heavily discounted crew housing that is move-in ready (bedding, kitchen and common room access, and fiber optic Wi-Fi included).

100% W-2 Hourly Pay: No 1099 tax traps and no losing money on cut-up residential patches. When a complex repair or custom texture match takes extra time to dial in, you get paid for every hour it takes to do the job right.

Compensation & 90-Day Tour

We do not micromanage, but we expect perfection. Our pay structure is designed so elite finishers get paid exactly what they are worth, while protecting the crew from callbacks:

• Total Target Compensation: $30.00 – $35.00/hr (Dependent on capability level).
• Guaranteed Base Rate: $20.00/hr for all regular hours worked.
• Quality & Completion Bonus (QCB): An additional $10.00/hr – $15.00/hr paid weekly on every hour worked when you meet three non-negotiable standards: zero customer callbacks/rework, zero unexcused tardiness/absences, and spotless jobsite masking/cleanup. (We include a single-incident grace pass per 90-day tour because we know mistakes happen, but consistent quality is required).
• $30 5-Star Review Bonus: Every time a homeowner leaves a 5-star Google review mentioning you by name, you get a $30 spot bonus. (If multiple crew members are mentioned, it’s split).
• $500 End-of-Tour Travel Bonus: Payable upon successful completion of your 90-day contract.
• Overtime Available: Steady 40-hour workweeks, with overtime offered as desired. Because this is W-2 pay, overtime is paid at time-and-a-half on your fully loaded rate ($45.00 – $52.50/hr).
• Paid Daily Lunch: 30-minute paid lunch included every workday.
• Weekly Direct Deposit: Paid every following Tuesday like clockwork.

Tour & Shadowing Structure

• First Tour: You will start with a 3-to-5-day paid shadowing run alongside our Lead Finisher at $20.00/hr to prove your speed and quality. Once the Lead signs off, you immediately unlock the full $30.00 – $35.00/hr rate structure.
• Subsequent Tours: Guys who renew for additional tours bypass the shadowing period entirely and start Day 1 at their full max rate.
• "Bring a Buddy" Referral Bonus: Elite tapers know other elite tapers. Both you and your buddy will each receive a $500 cash bonus if you refer a skilled finisher from back home who completes 60 days. Bonus Perk: If you and your referral are willing to share a larger room (which includes a full en-suite bath), your housing fee is further discounted.

What You Will Do

Most of our projects take place inside occupied residential homes and commercial facilities. Customer service, punctuality, and pride in a clean workspace are mandatory:

• Follow daily routing via our GPS-enabled scheduling app. Arrive on time and clock in on location.
• Wear company-provided foot protection before stepping into any client’s home.
• Mask every work area properly, utilize HEPA filtration devices, and leave the site spotless.
• Hang up to 5/8" drywall, execute seamless patches, apply joint compound or hot mud, embed tape, sand, and finish surfaces up to a true Level 5 finish.
• Dial in dead-on texture matches (orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, custom profiles).
• Handle basic prep tasks as needed (non-structural framing, caulking, light fixture removal/reinstallation).
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with homeowners, alerting management immediately of any site issues or changes in scope.

What We Require

We protect our crew’s reputation through a strict vetting process:

• 3+ years of drywall finishing experience (residential patch and custom texture experience strongly preferred).
• Capability to safely lift and maneuver full sheets of 5/8" board and 5-gallon buckets.
• 100% Company-Supplied Consumables & Heavy Gear: You bring your pans, knives, and drills. We supply 100% of your fresh blades, sanding sponges, consumables, and PPE. We also provide the heavy gear (texture sprayers, scaffolding, specialty materials). Out-of-state travelers only need to pack their personal hand kit.
• Transportation: You must have your own reliable vehicle.
• Must verify identity and legal eligibility to work in the United States.
• Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check, national rental/eviction check, and a pre-employment drug screening (off-the-clock THC use is exempt/permitted).
• 30-Day Operational Review: At Day 30, we review your quality and attendance metrics. Consistent professionals sail through to complete the 90-day tour.

How to Apply & Get Cleared for Deployment

To keep onboarding fast for serious tradesmen, please include the following:
