Goals: Start a practice group that meets every week. Practice a set of about 10 songs until we know them “off paper” and then develop another set of 10 songs (and so on). The songs in \_SET-1 have been selected (standards), and we’ll work on those just to get started.
We need it all: Mandolin and guitar (we have one of each but need another of each), bass/cello, dobro/lap steel, banjo and fiddle.
Intermediate musicians preferred (you must be able to solo reasonably well on the breaks).
I provide: A dedicated (perpetually set-up), purpose-built practice space near Tucson Blvd. and Glenn with chairs; music stands; and instrument stands for up to 10 musicians. I have professional recording equipment set-up if we eventually want to make audio and/or video files of the tunes we learn well.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE: Wednesdays at 2 pm for 2 hours.
Process: Until we get off paper, if you can’t remember the chords (or remember the words, like me!) then a tablet or laptop will be required to access my Drop Box, so we all end up on the same page (literally). You can download the files we develop from there, if needed.
Library: You'll get access to our /Folk-Bluegrass subdirectory (~109 songs as of today). I'm certain that I’m missing 90% of the best bluegrass songs ever written and building that collection is part of this project. You are encouraged to bring your favorite bluegrass tunes to the group, to be considered for \_SET-2 and beyond.
