My farther belonged to the Screen Actors and Directors Guilds and worked extensively with John Wayne. I am selling all of his extensive memorabilia that was left to me. And there is a TON of it. Let's start with how he knew John Wayne. He was a maitre d at a famous restaurant named Chasens. He also was that at an after hours club on Sunset named Eugenes He met the Duke there and became very friendly with him. Check out pages 123. 137 and 556 in Scott Eymans autobiography where he is mentioned. He later became an actor, appearing in various movies with him, then worked at Batjac, and later as an assistant director. Along the way he was given coffee mugs that are hand painted for every picture he worked in. I have 11 survivors that are in GREAT condition which the pictures show. Our family had about 8 that didn't survive as my mother used to make cranberry sauce in them. Go see Antiques Roadshow Virginia Beach to see them and hear their value 10 or so years ago. Since then, they have sold for those prices at auction and on ebay. Recently, the mug from North to Alaska sold for 90 for 8500 on 5/21, Rio Lobo for 8500 on 5/21 and Hondo for 7600on 7/6. I also have a picture of him with Senator Kerr and Kerr McGee Oil execs As a very young boy I distinctly remember going over to his house on Tyrone in Sherman Oaks, and later his house in Encino. I also have my father's cast and crew sheets from about 30 movies.
