Silver Lion AI needs a hands-on IT tech to help build out our server room in Dulles, VA.
We are building a private AI platform for a logistics business, running on our own GPU servers rather than rented cloud.
First project: build out the room
- Rack and stack servers, switches and power gear
- Run, lace and dress network and power cabling, including 10-gigabit copper
- Label everything and keep a clean, documented layout
- Set up conference-room equipment, a printer, and help move workstations
After that: light, scheduled hardware work
- Part swaps when needed (memory, drives, graphics cards, power supplies, UPS batteries)
- Check status lights and report back to our remote team
- Receive deliveries and keep the parts shelf organized
Schedule built around your life
- Part-time, paid by the hour. Visits are planned ahead with you.
- Evenings and weekends are fine. Works alongside a full-time job.
- Urgent call-outs are rare, but they can happen. When one does, we call you first and work out timing together.
- Room to grow with us as the site expands.
You'll do well here if you have hands-on PC or server experience, cabling skills (racking, patching, cable management), care for clean runs and clear labels, reliable transportation to Dulles, the ability to lift 50 lb, and you can pass a background check. Data center experience, Dell/NVIDIA/UPS familiarity or CompTIA A+/Network+ a plus.
$25–35/hr based on experience, paid as an independent contractor (1099).
To apply, reply to this posting with the subject "IT Assistant – Dulles" and tell us about your hardware and cabling experience, when you're usually free, and how far you are from Dulles. Resume welcome.
