Hello, I have for Sale a Beautiful one-of-a-kind custom Coffee Table with matching Serving Trays and Drink Coasters. This is one of two pieces that my dad commissioned from a custom furniture maker, but never had a chance to use because before either piece was delivered, he began having health issues that forced him to move into assisted living where he didn’t have the space, so it was placed in storage and has never actually been used.
It is constructed out of reclaimed walnut and salvaged Valley Oak. These gorgeous, sustainably sourced hardwoods and other eco-friendly materials were used create a piece that is both functional and beautiful. The table measures 48"L x 23"W x 15.5"H.
The top is constructed out of beautifully aged, figured walnut that has been finished with a clear, all-natural, non-toxic, zero VOC hard-wax oil that penetrates deep into the wood's pores to create a protective barrier from the inside out. This was followed by multiple coats of a ceramic nano-finish to further protect it from scratches, heat and liquids. The end result needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate the depth, beauty and movement within the grain.
The base of the table was milled from a single slab of Valley Oak salvaged from 500+ year old tree that fell in storm several years ago. The wood has a stunning variety of grain patterns with figure, flecks, swirls, and chatoyance. The upper part of the frame is stabilized at each end by angled blades of walnut from the same wood as the top, and there are inlaid details of matching oak and walnut on the ends of each frame segment. The top is affixed to the base with visible floating tenons that elevate it above the base and give it the appearance of almost hanging in the air. There is a slated storage shelf below which can be used to display the matching coasters and wood placemat trays made from the same oak slab as the rest of the base, and walnut details were added to tie it all together.
The coasters are stylishly chunky and designed to highlight the many nuances of the grain in the slab of oak they came from. The trays were made from book matched pieces of some of the most stunning sections of the oak slab and have very striking almost snakeskin-like effect in the grain. These beautifully constructed coasters and placemat/trays were explicitly designed to be a cohesive and fully integrated means of helping to protect and preserve the top.
This is a beautifully crafted, truly, one-of-a-kind piece, made from sustainable and thoughtfully sourced, eco-friendly materials, designed to last and be passed down for generations to come. My Dad paid $1850 for the table, $225 for the matching trays, and $125 for the matching coasters, for a total cost of $2200. It has NEVER been used. Asking $1000 in hopes of honoring his wishes of finding a good home for it.
