We are launching an open mic and live showcase series in Simi Valley to build a real local scene for real local talent across every community in the region. What we are offering is stage time, professional documentation, content you own, and a ground-floor seat in something with real plans to grow.
This open mic and showcase series is produced by Vibe District, a live entertainment and booking company that books and places talent for short-term residencies across restaurants, bars, lounges, corporate events, community events, charity functions, shopping plazas, and high-foot-traffic public spaces throughout Southern California. The open mic is where we find our talent. What happens after is why it matters.
Performers and talent:
All genres. All styles. All communities. College students. Millennials. Gen X. 50 and up. If you perform, we want to hear from you.
R&B. Soul. Hip hop. Rap. Pop. Latin. Salsa. Cumbia. Reggaeton. Country. Folk. Acoustic. Indie. Rock. Gospel. Jazz. Blues. Electronic. Afrobeats. K-Pop. Dancehall. Reggae. Spoken word. Comedy. Stand-up. Improv. All of it.
Solo acoustic performers are in especially high demand across our venue network, particularly for pop-up activations and high-foot-traffic public spaces. New to performing and just need a stage to practice on? You belong here too.
Other roles we are filling:
MC / Host: Natural host with comedic timing, stage presence, and real cultural awareness. Someone who can read a room, keep the energy up between sets, and make every type of crowd feel like they belong. If you are the funniest one in the room and you know your culture, we need to talk. Female performers strongly encouraged to apply.
DJs: Looking for DJs across all styles and formats. We need DJs who can create atmosphere, hold a room without forcing it, and shift gears naturally as the crowd changes. Family-friendly sets, mature and sophisticated listening environments, and a deep working knowledge of hits spanning the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 2010s are a major plus. If you know music and you know people, we want to hear from you.
Note: Vibes are everything. The Host and DJ will need to work in tandem for special events including game nights, watch parties, paint n' sip mixers, and more.
Videographers, editors, and photographers: Real event credits and portfolio material from day one.
Food and hospitality: Small caterers and food vendors who can accommodate 50 to 100 people. Local and independent preferred.
A few practical requirements:
Reliable transportation. You need to get yourself there.
Own any specialty equipment your performance requires beyond the PA system provided.
Night and weekend availability required. Weekday bookings available for selected talent.
If you confirm a date, you show up.
Preferred:
Open mic and showcase performers should bring at least a few people to watch.
Compensation:
Booking fees vary. Compensation will be discussed and agreed upon with selected talent as the series and venue partnerships grow throughout California.
