I am a responsible younger gay male looking to return to SD to be near my family and community but having a hard time finding an affordable situation. I am hoping to start a PhD program at UCSD Fall 2027 and want my own space that’s central, affordable, quiet and well maintained.
I have had really interesting housing experiences in the past where I was able to provide things like cat sitting, house sitting, Reiki and massage (great hands, professionally trained, and worked in those areas for many years), and other things, as partial rent exchange.
Those were some of my favorite living situations because they offered privacy as well as connection, sharing space and resources and support with mutual respect and benefit.
As I’ve been getting ready to move back this fall, and noticing the significant rent increase since I was last living there, I thought: maybe there’s someone out there who has more space than they need, an extra casita or private guest suite - who also wouldn’t mind some good company and maybe some house or cat sitting while they travel.
I have really good references from prior house and cat sitting jobs, housemates, landlords, etc. I am clean, quiet, respectful. I enjoy a balance between personal space and connection, and prefer a central location within a quiet, safe, nice/upscale neighborhood.
I’m flexible and very open minded, just looking for a mutually enjoyable and beneficial situation.
