As a Banquet Server, you'll make sure every private event runs smoothly and that every guest leaves happy. You'll work closely with our events manager, kitchen and floor team to serve plated, family-style and buffet meals. You'll also handle passed appetizers and wine service, and some events will have you running the bar, all at the standard Poggio is known for. Events are scheduled in advance, so this role suits experienced servers looking for extra shifts. Weekend availability is required to apply for this position.
Responsibilities
• Set up event spaces before guests arrive, following the event sheet: tables, linens, place settings, glassware and stations
• Serve coordinated courses to groups on time, including synchronized plated service
• Pass hors d'oeuvres and run plated, buffet or family-style service
• Serve wine and beverages, including pouring wine pairings and toasts
• Bartend at select events: set up and stock the bar, mix cocktails, and pour wine and beer for large groups
• Know the event menu and note allergies and dietary restrictions
• Respond to the host's and guests' needs with grace and professionalism
• Break down, clean and reset the room after each event
• Work with hotel staff, event managers, kitchen and bar so service runs without a hitch
Requirements
• One year of banquet, catering or high-volume restaurant serving experience. Italian restaurant or fine dining experience preferred
• Comfortable with tray service and carrying multiple plates
• Wine knowledge and wine service skills
• Bartending experience strongly preferred, since some events include bar shifts
• Familiarity with Toast POS a plus
• Polished appearance and excellent communication skills
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs
• Comfortable working large-scale events of 100+ guests
• Available evenings and weekends, plus occasional daytime events
• Must be at least 18 years old
