I’m a life long guitarist with 40+ years of music covering song writing, arranging, producing and multi-track recording going back to classical instrument training. I teach a very well developed method that gives you the understanding of the relationship between pentatonic patterns, scales and chords. Using a small number of common patterns, target notes, and finger exercises, you’ll be able to recognize the way the scales fit with standard chords and vice versa. I will also put together customized chord progressions for any student so you can practice finger exercises on your own along with the visual material that consists of the guitar fingerboard showing the target notes. I can demonstrate basic finger picking but there are too many different methods to teach and it would be beneficial for you to learn your own method.
Whether you want to improve your acoustic guitar abilities, or work on becoming great at lead improvisation, the purpose of my program is to get you to be able to hear and understand how the notes and chords fit together so over time and practice, you should be able to hear and play along with almost any rock, pop or folk song. I do not teach you how to play other people’s songs. I teach you how to hear and recognize what others artists are playing so you can easily pick up on their patterns and learn them yourself. I also cover some basic music theory to support and enhance the exercises. I hold 1-2 hour sessions at $40 per hour and everything can be done using tools like Teamviewer or Zoom if you prefer.
The first session is typically an evaluation session around 15-30 minutes long (Includes Free Demo!). I don't charge for this time and will not include it in actual sessions. The purpose is to determine where you are at in the learning process and decide how to tailor your lesson plans to make them the most effective. The instruction sessions require that you do the finger exercises and chord practice on your own between our sessions. You must be sure you can set aside a reasonable amount of time between instruction sessions to build up your scale and chord playing ability or the sessions will not help you progress!
