Shambala House Preschool is looking for a warm, grounded, and dependable Assistant Teacher to join our small preschool community for approximately 30–35 hours per week.
We are a nature- and play-based alternative preschool serving children ages 18 months–5 years. Our days are centered around outdoor play, nature, creativity, music, movement, imaginative play, emotional awareness, and nurturing relationships.
We maintain a low 1:4 teacher-to-child ratio because we believe young children need connection, presence, and individual attention.
We’re looking for someone who:
Truly enjoys being with young children
Is warm, patient, playful, emotionally grounded, and reliable
Enjoys being outdoors in all kinds of weather
Can support children through big feelings, conflicts, and transitions with calmness and compassion
Is comfortable with diapering, toileting, meals, rest time, cleaning, and the physical activity of preschool life
Works well as part of a close-knit teaching team
Can follow the Lead Teacher’s direction while also taking initiative
Is interested in attachment, co-regulation, and social-emotional development
Wants to be part of a meaningful preschool community—not simply find a childcare job
Experience with young children in a Care Center is strongly preferred. Early Childhood Education experience or coursework is a plus.
At Shambala House, we strive to create a “place of peace” where children feel safe, seen, loved, and free to experience childhood at their own pace.
We teach from the Heart to the Heart.
If this speaks to you, please send your résumé along with a short introduction telling us about yourself, your experience with young children, and why you feel Shambala House might be a good fit for you.
Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
