About the Project
We are a 37-year-old fireplace and hot tub retail store based in Santa Cruz. We are currently focusing on improving our website and adding e-commerce, as well as making general digital improvements.
This is phase one of a larger tech upgrade. We are building a site that will eventually incorporate more advanced features such as virtual showrooms. Right now, we need someone to build the core foundation (using platforms like Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce, or similar) so those future tools have a place to live.
Who We Are Looking For
You do not need to be a seasoned professional or agency. This role is perfect for a college student, recent bootcamp grad, or a self-taught developer looking to add a solid commercial project to their portfolio. We value motivation, communication, and a willingness to figure things out over years of experience.
Work Setup (Hybrid Required)
While the bulk of the actual coding and building can be done remotely from home, this is a hybrid role. You must be local to the Santa Cruz area and willing to meet in person at our store periodically. Sitting down face-to-face to review progress and share digital assets will save us both time and speed up the development process.
Requirements:
Familiarity with setting up standard e-commerce platforms and customizing templates.
Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and solid UI/UX design sense.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts simply.
Must live close enough to commute to Santa Cruz for check-in meetings.
