Most construction companies still estimate the way they did in 1995. We don't.
Lounsbury Built Luxury is a high-end residential general contractor in Marin County -- full renovations and custom homes in the $3-5M range. Over the last two years we built an AI-assisted preconstruction system: plan review, takeoffs, budgets, risk assessment, scopes of work, schedules. It works. Now we need someone to run it.
You do NOT need estimating experience. You need:
- Some real construction exposure. A summer laboring or framing, lumber yard or trade counter work, CM coursework with field labs, or growing up around the trades. You need to know what a jobsite feels like.
- Real comfort with technology and AI tools. You use them already and learning new software doesn't scare you.
- Care with numbers and details.
- The confidence to say "I don't know what that means." In this role, bluffing is the only firing offense.
- Reliable transportation to reach jobsites across Marin.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Material takeoffs from architectural plans (we'll train you on our takeoff tools). Build budgets and trade-by-trade scopes in our tracker system. Run pricing against live supplier price books. Draft RFIs and bid requests. Walk jobsites with our site supervisor and learn how plans differ from reality. Work directly with the owner across 8-10 active project budgets.
PAY AND GROWTH:
$30-38/hr to start, based on construction background. Structured 90-day ramp with clear milestones -- pass the gate and convert to salary at $75-85K. Direct mentorship from the owner. Real growth path: analyst > estimator > preconstruction manager. Full-time, hybrid (office/home for plan work, Marin jobsites as needed).
Twelve months from now you'll be producing complete project budgets that most estimators take five years to learn -- because the system carries you while you build the judgment.
