We already have vintage reference garments with the fit, proportions and overall feel we're looking for. We'd like to work with someone who can use these as references to create our own versions — without damaging or taking apart the originals.
We're particularly interested in getting that great 1960s/70s vintage fit and feel right: soft, comfortable, beautifully proportioned and something you'd actually want to wear rather than standard promotional merch.
WHAT WE NEED
For each garment:
Pattern developed from our reference garment
First sewn sample
Fit adjustments/revisions
Final production-ready pattern
Potential grading for a small production run later
We're starting with one garment first. If it's a good fit working together, we'll move immediately onto the second and there is potential for additional ongoing work.
We're open to experienced professional patternmakers, sample makers, costume makers, retired industry professionals, fashion instructors or talented independent garment makers.
This is paid freelance work.
We're not looking for a large development agency — we'd particularly love to find a talented local person we can work with directly.
TO APPLY
Please send:
A little about your experience
Photos/examples of garments or patterns you've developed
Your Bay Area location
Your hourly rate or typical project pricing
Whether you can provide final patterns
Your availability over the next few weeks
Bonus points if you love vintage clothing and understand why the fit of a great old sweatshirt somehow feels completely different from a brand-new blank.
